Since Victorian days, "Lilac Sunday" at the Arnold Arboretum has been celebrated by Bostonians and visitors to the area. Yesterday I enjoyed the frangrance of the lilacs for the first time in many years living in Boston (please be polite and don't ask how many years). It was amazingly uplifting, strolling through the festive atmosphere and taking time to "smell the flowers". I was delighted by the children climbing trees, rolling down the lush green hillsides, and reaching for the passing dog friend. The people watching was fun too. Lots of great moments and fabulous hats, grown men sticking their noses into the blossoms.
