The geographic heart of Newton with the center located at the intersection of Beacon Street and Centre Street. Pathway Home Realty is located at 1359 Centre Street. The Newton Centre T stop is located in the Piccadilly Square Shopping Center and all of Newton Centre is dotted with boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants.

In the 1878 a group of citizens started the Newton Centre Improvement Association for the purpose of improving public facilities in Newton Centre. In the 1890s, this group hired Frederick Law Olmstead, the nation’s foremost landscape designer to design the Newton Centre Playground.
